CMS adds building security to office moving arsenal
DECEMBER 2, 2011 SACRAMENTO, CA – California Moving Systems has added office building security to its arsenal of competitive tools by completing training in Homeland Security for Office Moves.
Movers and other contractors use trucks and so do terrorists and criminals, who are a more common threat to office buildings and tenant property, and usually just walk in unchallenged.
“Burglaries of computers and other electronics from office buildings are becoming more of a problem, even with security plans and cameras in place,” said Ed Katz, head of the International Office Moving Institute (IOMI®). “California Moving Systems understands the importance of becoming a trusted member of the building manager’s team.”
Developed by IOMI® and an expert in emergency management, Homeland Security for Office Moves takes a first-responder’s approach to preparing moving companies to help reduce office building vulnerabilities by recognizing the warning signs of criminal and terrorist activities.
“Office movers have a special responsibility to safeguard the buildings they work in and assist building security by knowing how to recognize when something isn’t right,” said Katz.
APRIL 1 – 3, 2010 – The offices of California Moving Systems are located on Happy Lane in Sacramento and it seems to fit. Maybe it’s because after 43 years in the business, this family-run moving company is still willing to learn something new.
CMS became the newest IOMI Certified Office Mover when all key employees completed three intensive days of training by Ed Katz and the International Office Moving Institute (IOMI).
Training was held offsite at Rancho Cordova’s magnificent new city hall approximately 10 miles from downtown Sacramento.
Since the day the doors opened with five vans and a 5,000 square foot warehouse, the goal was to grow by offering clients a broad spectrum of quality moving and storage services. Today, their fleet includes 35 modern air ride vans and their facility has grown to 63,000 square feet.
Hard work and dedication to excellence has paid off. CMS earned the coveted Milton Hill Award for Excellence in 2004-2005, the highest award presented by Atlas Van Lines. The company became a stock holding agent of Atlas Van Lines in 1989.
“It was great to see everyone excited and engaged during Ed’s presentation. This is one of the most productive classes California Moving Systems has taken. I believe the results will have a positive and immediate impact on our service,” said Dave Higdon, vice president.
President and CEO Chris Higdon characterized IOMI Certified Office Mover training as “a worthwhile investment”.
Their instructor sees a bright future for his gracious hosts.
“They are going to be so successful. I hope they had as much fun as I did, it was one of the best training sessions I’ve ever experienced,” said Ed Katz, instructor and head of IOMI.
With IOMI Certified Office Mover training in their arsenal, it’s show time at California Moving Systems.
“Can’t wait to start booking more business,” Chris Higdon said. Sales Manager Allan Brown confirms the training works.
“We have employed your method on a couple of estimates since the seminar and were successful.”
